Abstract
Management attitude constitutes a critical yet often overlooked determinant of employee productivity in knowledge-intensive industries. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the relationship between management attitudes and employee productivity in software companies operating in Chennai, India. Drawing upon recent empirical studies conducted in the Chennai IT sector, the analysis synthesizes findings from multiple investigations examining leadership styles, managerial support, work-life balance initiatives, mental health interventions, and performance management practices. The evidence suggests that management attitudesmanifested through leadership styles, supervisory support, organizational policies, and workplace cultureexert a profound influence on employee productivity through multiple pathways including employee engagement, motivation, job satisfaction, and psychological well-being. The findings reveal that transformational and democratic leadership styles are positively associated with higher productivity, whereas autocratic and control-oriented management approaches tend to undermine employee performance. Furthermore, management attitudes toward work-life balance, mental health support, and continuous learning emerge as significant predictors of productivity outcomes. The article concludes with practical implications for software companies in Chennai seeking to enhance employee productivity through strategic management attitude interventions.
