Rethinking Creativity: AI’s Impact on Human Authorship in Literature
Main Article Content
Abstract
The advent of AI-generated literature is fundamentally reshaping the landscape for human writers, prompting a critical examination of ownership, artistic expression, and the very future of the profession. Artificial intelligence, with its capacity to process vast amounts of text, generate engaging narratives, and mimic diverse human writing styles, presents both significant opportunities and profound challenges. While AI-produced content currently lacks the nuanced emotional depth and genuine insight characteristic of human authorship, it can serve as a powerful tool for research, content outlines, and editorial assistance. However, its increasing prevalence also ignites serious concerns regarding job displacement for human authors, the potential for skewed research, and a broader devaluation of human creative contributions. As the line between human and machine-generated innovation blurs, a synergistic approach, where AI acts as an enhancer rather than a replacement for human creativity, promises to unlock new literary forms. This study argues that the enduring value of human authorship lies in its irreplaceable contribution to the richness and complexity of our literary heritage.
