She pictures her personal encounter and experience of Indian politics in her novels because politics has entered in her life in her early age itself.   Sahgal beautifully pictures the impact of emergency in society in her sixth novel Rich Like Us.  It presents a vivid picture of the emergency through different characters.  This paper aims to bring out the effect of emergency on people’s lives.  It also focuses how political power has been misused for self-development.
