Role of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the United Nations

Abstract

Saint Kitts and Nevis, the smallest sovereign state in Western Hemisphere by both area and population, has played a significant role within the United Nations despite its limited geographic and demographic size. Since gaining independence in 1983 and joining  the United Nations in  the same year, Saint Kitts and Nevis has actively participated in global governance, Sustainable development initiatives, Climate Change, diplomacy, human rights promotion and international peace and security discussions. as a member of Caribbean Community, the Allience of Small Island States, the Common - wealth and the Group-77, the counting has Consistently advocated for the interests of small Island Developing States. This article examines the role of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the United Nations, Highlighting its contributions to international diplomacy, Climate Change negotiations, sustainable development, human rights, multilateral Cooperations and global partnerships. The study demonstrates how small States can exercise influence in international Organizations through coalition -building, diplomacy and moral leadership.
