Revival of Metaphysical Thought in GenZ: A Study of E- Content

Abstract

This research paper aims to examine how metaphysical poetry has revived and evolved through the digital poetic expressions of Generation Z by analyzing essential features of metaphor, paradox and unified sensibility found in their social media poetry compositions, focused mainly on Instagram & Tiktok posts as a way for these young authors about identity, morality, love and spirituality expressed through close textual analysis. As shown in this paper, poetry of Generation Z is a new metaphysical tradition combining wit and sentiment paired with the real-life struggles and cultures that arise from coming-of-age during an era defined by technology. Grounded in the traditional forms of verse and intertwined with a new, digital ecosystem that pushes its own boundaries at every turn this research shows us how poetry is an intertextual discourse through which anyone can find their voice and community.
