Abstract

Skill and knowledge are the driving force of economic growth and social development of any region. Skill is the key to improving employability, livelihood opportunity, alleviating poverty, enhancing productivity. Different types of skill are needed to be developed in an individual in order to meet the present lifestyle and industrial need. Around 64% of India’s population is expected to be in the age bracket of 15–59 years by 2026, India is poised to become the world’s youngest country by 2020, with an average age of 29 years and account for around 28% of the world’s workforce. Youth being enthusiastic, vibrant, innovative and dynamic in nature is the most important section of the population. There is urgent need of skill development training for these youth to harness the demographic dividend otherwise it will become demographic disaster.
