Late Pt. Pattaohirai s Shastri was a renowned Sanskrit scholar in recognition of his services several distinctions had been conferred on him including "Padma Bhushan" by the President of India. The U.P. Govt.Honoured him in 1986 with an award of Rsl lakh for his services to Sanskrit. Dr. Shastri donated the entire amount to the Kendra.

A distinguished and respected scholar in the country culminated in giving birth to the Veda Mimansa Anusandhan Kendra which was inaugurated at B 4/7 A, Hanuman Ghat, Varanasi in the year 1973 and registered as a society.Non-profit making academic institution devoted to furtherance ofthe cause of Sanskrit studies.
